  • Super Baskets of Hope: How the Super Bowl Sparked Franchisee Teamwork

Being a part of the Learning Express Toys franchise is like being part of a big family, full of store owners with wonderful and unique personalities. Our franchisees love sharing ideas and supporting one another. At the home office, we are always excited to hear what our store owners have come up with and enjoy helping them create company-wide initiatives based on their suggestions.

So when Learning Express Toys of Denville, New Jersey, owner, Diane Bowser, sent an email to her fellow franchisees asking them to donate Rainbow Loom kits and bands to this year’s Super Baskets of Hope, our store owners began flooding her inbox with positive replies.

Baskets of Hope is a charitable organization that delivers gift baskets to children diagnosed with cancer. The Super Baskets of Hope project is an extension of the charity that takes place every year in and around the host city of the Super Bowl. NFL players deliver the baskets full of toys, games, and activities to children in local hospitals and spend time visiting with the patients. This year, the 2014 Super Bowl is being held at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and Diane was eager to participate, along with the Giants and the Jets, in helping her community.

Dianne packing Rainbow LoomWith assistance from other Learning Express Toys store owners, Diane gathered 750 Rainbow Loom Kits and more than 1,000 packs of refill bands. Diane couldn’t have hoped for a better result saying, “Learning Express Toys is dedicated to community support. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Learning Express Toys family.”

Diane and her fellow New York and New Jersey Metro store owners, along with Lauren and Lauren Diane and Baskets of Hope organizersMike Derse of the home office, were thrilled to join the Super Baskets of Hope volunteers in packaging the baskets and totes for delivery. Lauren Derse was blown away by the experience saying, “It was incredible to be a part of something so heart-felt. I’m glad that Diane included all of us in this project—we are fortunate to have such wonderful franchisees.”

Diane’s initiative in organizing this donation is one of many examples of how our franchisees work together to accomplish wonderful results.

    Enjoy the Super Bowl!
